About

Making a noise about music, events and culture in Bath.

Bath Sound started in 1964 as Bath Hospital Radio, keeping patients company in the ward with music and a familiar voice. Also formerly known as Bath Radio and BA1 Radio, we've been on air for more than 60 years, making us the longest-running radio station in Bath. We still broadcast our award-winning station from the Royal United Hospital, and that part of our mission has never gone away.

Our mission now is to reach out further into the UNESCO World Heritage city and connect Bathonians through music, events, culture and the arts. We believe Bathonians deserve a radio station that gives us a chance to connect with each other over the cultural life we actually share.

We have a dedicated and diverse group of volunteer presenters who put out more than 30 hours of broadcasting each week. You'll hear live and local music, popular and classical, art, theatre, cinema, dance, reviews, sport and commentary. We also make programmes about the music-making around Bath, the people of the city, and the organisations here, and we interview a lot of new and local artists.
